Shri. M. Mahadeva and friends started an organization for promotion and development of sports for physically challenged on 3rd November 1987 – Karnataka Sports Association for the Physically Handicapped (KSAPH) was registered in Societies Act. Sl. No. 528 /87-88 from Bangalore |
1989 |
The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) – the global governing body of the Paralympic Movement – was founded on 22 September 1989 in Düsseldorf, Germany |
1990 |
Physically Handicapped Sports Federation of India (PHASFI) was registered in the year 1990 for National Level Para Sports |
1991 |
In 1991 the IPC changed its logo, who felt the similarity of their logos was confusing and might hamper marketing. The IPC decided on a symbol of three Tae-Geuks, representing the Paralympic Motto: Mind, Body, and Spirit. and used until 2003 |

1992 Summer Paralympics - Barcelona and Madrid, Spain in this context a Nation is an entity represented by a National Paralympic Committee (NPC), Mahadeva & Friends from India participated in the 1992 Summer Paralympics and became founder members of NPC India, |

Physically Handicapped Sports Federation of India (PHASFI) has to be renamed to NPC India as per IPC Norms, where as in India, the world ‘National’ was restricted to NGO’s hence Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) was registered during the year 1994 with the registrar of societies, Bangalore, Karnataka.
