Wheelchair Tennis

First fully included to the Paralympic sport programme in Barcelona 1992, wheelchair tennis is governed by the International Tennis Federation (ITF). 

There are two sport classes in wheelchair tennis.

CLASSES

The ‘Open’ Class is for athletes with permanent impairment of one or both legs, but with normal arm function.

The ‘Quad’ Class is for athletes with additional restrictions in the playing arm, which limits the ability to handle the racked at manoeuvre the wheelchair.
